When I envisioned launching BRYN REESE FINE CHINA, it was with the desire to offer collectors a series of modern table services and fine china tableware inspired by images that have captured our imaginations for centuries. In addition to Zega Dams for Bryn Reese Fine China, we are pleased to be taking orders for our ASIAN modern COLLECTION, a collboration Bryn and Zina Castanuela, a Chicago artist who is known for her explorations in paper and use of items selected from the natural world. Zina translated Bryn’s vision for a fresh approach to ancient themes and her love of luxurious celadon, lacquer red, and stunning gold. The service is based on two complimentary presentation plates and three five-piece place settings that are designed for fascinating interplay.
ASIAN modern COLLECTION
Beginning with the earliest porcelain designs created across Asia, I found the dragon, and its journey through life, to be exciting threads in Japanese and Chinese imagery. Desiring to marry modern images to the ancient themes of abundance, journey, and prosperity, I selected luxurious colors and fine textures that would embody these aspirations. As we extend the idea of the dragon and its journey to ourselves and our lives, we begin to understand the purpose of the table as a convener of celebrations, intimate evenings with friends, and the focal point of contemporary family life from sunrise to sunset.
The basis of the ASIAN modern COLLECTION is a set of two presentation plates and three 5-piece place settings to be used interchangeably based on the ambiance you wish to stage for your table, or simply your whim or mood. Abundance, Journey and Prosperity are now available for special order.
